(Lon:) Bali was a very nice stop. Although the prices were about double
what the Lonely Planet listed, it was still a great value. I'd also heard
people complain that it was no longer the undisovered stop and that it was
too touristy. I didn't find that to be a problem at all. Being kinda
touristy also means that it was easy to find a place to stay, everyone spoke
English, and we found some great restaurants.
Kuta is a party town as we expected. Ubud was a great place with wonderful restaurants.
But Candidasa was our best find. We lucked
into a new hotel that was offering its rooms at $15 (yes, the sign was posted
in US$). It was a couple of steps above what we normally stayed at, but the
price put it right in line with what we wanted.
