Canoeing in MO

Jul 9-10, 2002

Each year Jim and his brother get together to paddle down one of the rivers near his hometown of Springfield, MO. Since I wasn't working this year I joined him.

I arrived on Sat. and we all spent the next few days getting ready for the trip: playing tennis, touring the local Civil War site and drinking beer. This year they had: Jim, me, Ken (Jim's brother), Steve Brown (Ken's high school friend), Tim (Jim's brother), Reid (Tim's son), and Melissa (Ted's daughter).

I remember Jim planning for food and drinks ... "How much beer do you think we need? Let's see... a case of beer for me, a case for Tim, a case for Ken. Steve didn't drink much last year so 2 6-packs for him. Reid isn't drinking at all anymore so none for him or Melissa daughter. And Lon, what'll you drink? Two 6-packs?" The quote of the trip came from Melissa: "Whenever I smell beer, I think of my uncles."
