After travelling around the world, I wasn't quite ready to dive right back into the work scene. And I wanted to stay with my mom for a while after her surgery and during the radiation therapy. So, I bought a car in San Diego and drove back to Austin.
Austin, TX

I spent that summer with my mom at her new place in Austin, TX. She found out that she had breast cancer on the day that she moved to Austin. Since I had no place that I had to be, I took this opportunity to stay with her during her surgey and radiation therapy. I am happy to say (and my mother too) that now (one year later) there are no remains from the cancer.

Driving across USA
In Sep I left Austin and returned to San Diego via the East Coast. I stopped in New Jersey to visit Rose and Shannon. And then I met up with Ab & Jim in Ab's hometown in Connecticut. I stayed on with Ab's school chum Mary and her husband James in their cool renovated barn. From there I picked up my friend, Patti, in New York. We travelled around New England a bit before a long haul to the SouthWest and then San Diego. Sep. 7-8, 2002

Bertrand called this travelling where I am settling in and doing some self-evaluation: "Seelenverwandtschaft". A poor translation would be "spiritual affinity".
