The real story... Tim's a avid Mtn biker with a nice full-suspension bike (6" travel front and back). He'd been going to Big Bear and entering the races and asked if I wanted to join him and share the drive and the hotel expenses. I thought sure this would be fun. When I registered I was in the over-35 retro class, meaning I didn't have a full suspension bike, only a front shock. There were only 4 poor old men in this class including me. So when one of the other guys got a flat tire, which barely slowed him down enough for me to get a better time, I got 3rd place!
