Wiñet Campaign

History

The Duathians were , for a very long time the only source of this new magic. It was one of the three cornerstones upon which their power was built (the other two being: the development of the Tou Thanatuo Saurai, and the gathering of secret information through covet surveillance. Even after others gained the ability to cast magic. The Duathians still retained the lion's share of the magic artifact and alchemy market (close to 80 % except at the very high end where they had a monopoly About 30 Years ago, a young tinkerer, named Jacob Larabie, and his best friend (a guy named Wazniak) working in their garage, invented a device that is able to infuse any object with Mana directly and also "program" the mana so that it behaves in the way you want. In effect, anyone (with the proper training in the LOS - Larabie Operating System) can sit down at the control of one of these systems and create magic artifacts. The only limits are the size of the Larabie system being used and the imagination of the user. The effects of this event are over the last thirty years are: The Duathian Monopoly was busted. Non Duathian Security systems became available with out (it turns out) and built in Duathian backdoors. The Tou Thanatou Saurai became much less effective (they sure missed al those backdoors) The Duathian Empire has begun to crumble (it is even rumored that the current emperor William the Gate Keeper was killed in a palace coup). Jacob Larabie became fabulously wealthy (his company not only produces the systems but is aggressive about hiring the best designers and is a leader in the artifact production market).

Profesional Dining

Eating is a spectator sport on Wiñet. Some of the highest paid entertainers on the continent are professional eaters.Events are held in large auditoriums where the audience plugs into the eater experience telepathically and empathetically. Eaters are presented with an array beverages of completely and partially cooked foods and spices (sometimes in series and sometimes all at once) and are given points for how they choose the order the consume the foods and drinks, the way they combine flavors, how they complete the cooking of partially cooked or raw ingredients, how they manipulate the temperature of the items, all sorts of stuff. The telepathic feed is often accompanied by play-by-play descriptions and color commentary.Kids grow up wanting to be just like these guys

A Bit More About The Ripper:

The Ripper has killed again. It has been almost 2 months since his last kill, a wealthy widow and philanthropist in Meth, which was in itself notable since it was had been the years since a victim incontrovertibly linked to him (the authorities actually have no idea what the gender of this criminal is) had been reported outside of the city State of Perth.

Even more surprising is the news that a new victim was found just over 3 weeks ago in the coastal town of Crystal Harbor (that was a few days before your ship left for Keiron). What makes this unusual is:

more About The Lodge & Environs

The time of the year is late winter and early spring. This far north there is still a significant amount of snow on the ground although the likely hood of more snowstorms is very low.

The Lodge at Dragon’s Teeth (named picturesquely after the local tribe of wild Elves) is the most exclusive safari lodge in al of the Keironian Wastes, the northern most part of Wiñet.It is a renovated castle with an outer wall and central keep nestled against the side of a mountain the locals call High Perch Peak.Legend says it was the Baronial home of some ancient local ruler back during the time of the Triumvirate.

The local Elves claim it is their ancestral home, but they never made this claim until A & B Tours, a division of Alcibaedes and Boris Inc. bought it and started fixing it up.

Most of the rooms have a breathtaking view to of the wide, U-shaped Alpine Valley to the southeast. The lodge itself is located about 3500 feet above sea level with the valley floor about 850 feet below. It is a steep, but not impossible hike there and back during the summer.During the winter they have groomed the slope to allow skiing, but only on days when the staff is sure there are no inimical fauna in the area.On a clear day it almost seems that you can see all the way to Ice Landing on the shores of the Inner Sea about 140 miles away. The mountains above the valley peak anywhere from 7500 to over 10,000 feet above sea level. The highest is High Perch itself which tops out at 10,734’.

The valley floor is open and during the summer months a clear, crisply cold stream meanders through its meadows that provides exquisite Trout fishing or so the brochure said.It is still beneath at least 5-6 feet of snow at this time of year. This time of year it is a long soft white blanket of snow that has melted just enough to form a thin icy layer just right for reflecting the incredible colors of the sunrises and sunsets.
